Stussy is one of the most iconic streetwear brands to ever exist. The brand was started in 1984 by then surfboard shaper Shawn Stussy in Laguna Beach, California. Over the last 30 plus years, the company has grown tremendously, with stockists around the world and flagship stores in over 15 cities and 11 countries. Although for a while the brand lost some of its demand, with key collaborations the brand has been able to kickstart a comeback.
Over the last year, more so last 6 months, Stussy has had a series of collaborations that have brought them back into the spotlight. This started with their t-shirt they designed with German magazine and streetwear brand 032c, which sold out immediately everywhere. The magazine has been a dictator of what and who is relevant in the culture for over 10 years now, and their decision to work with Stussy has shown exactly that. Since then, they have collaborated with brands like Suicoke, New Balance, Cactus Flea Market and DSM and that's just a handful of their recent work.
Overall, I am extremely excited to see who Stussy will work with next and what they have coming in the next couple of years. I think their comeback will also bring back some other older streetwear companies and that vintage Stussy and streetwear, in general, will become very popular.
